Why Davison trains here

Davison has a strong wrestling and sports tradition. Jiu-jitsu is the natural next step, and Great Lakes BJJ is where Davison athletes come to learn it. The grappling fundamentals transfer directly, and our coaches know how to bridge the gap between wrestling and submission grappling.

  • Wrestling background? Welcome home.: Davison has a proud wrestling tradition. Jiu-jitsu builds directly on those fundamentals: takedowns, pressure, and positional control all carry over. Our coaches help wrestlers add submissions and guard work to their existing skillset.
  • 15 minutes on I-69: Hop on I-69 West, take the Dort Highway exit, and you are at the gym. Davison members make this drive every week. It becomes automatic after the first few classes.
  • Family-first environment: This is a family academy. Adam and Kelley train alongside their own kids. Parents train while their children are in youth class. The culture here is tight, supportive, and real.
