Fight Prep in Flint, Michigan.
Wanting to compete is welcome. Fight Prep is GLBJJ's coach directed competition track for experienced martial artists and serious competitors who back that goal with preparation, consistency, coachability, and commitment to the team. Book an evaluation session. Continuing in the track is earned through what you do.
Your first Fight Prep booking is an evaluation session. It guarantees the evaluation, not live Fight Prep participation, a direct free trial, automatic Fight Track placement, or a promise that GLBJJ will represent an independently arranged bout. Coach Adam may route a newer athlete into fundamentals first.
The Goal Is Welcome. The Standard Is Real.
Fight Prep does not replace fundamentals. Most athletes build their GLBJJ jiu jitsu and kickboxing base first. Experienced prospects may attend an evaluation at Coach Adam's discretion. Preparation, consistency, coachability, commitment, and how you contribute to the team determine whether you continue. Adam has professional MMA experience and leads the Fight Track, including every decision about GLBJJ fight representation.
What the class covers
- Fight focused rounds: Situational work and coached live rounds that make the athlete apply sound decisions under competition pressure.
- Kickboxing led striking: Kickboxing with substantial Muay Thai and selected American karate elements, adapted to the athlete's demonstrated level.
- High percentage grappling: Reliable technique with a wrestling heavy emphasis on getting on top, staying on top, and controlling the exchange.
- Preparation and accountability: Coaches evaluate preparation, consistency, coachability, fundamentals, commitment, conduct, and contribution to the team. For a bout GLBJJ has agreed to represent, the work may be tailored to that competition.
Fight Prep schedule
- Wednesday Fight Prep: Wednesdays 7:30 to 9:00 PM. Ninety minutes of fight focused drills and coached live work. Evaluation and ongoing placement remain under Coach Adam's discretion.
- Friday Fight Prep: Fridays 6:00 to 7:30 PM. The same Fight Track standard. Bring your own mouthpiece, full size boxing gloves, and shin guards. GLBJJ does not loan Fight Prep gear.
Who this is for
- Experienced competitors: You have a real training base and want a coach directed environment for competition preparation.
- Experienced prospects ready to be evaluated: You are serious about competing and are prepared to show consistency, coachability, sound fundamentals, and commitment to the team.
- Newer aspiring fighters building the base: The goal is welcome. Start in jiu jitsu and kickboxing, train consistently, and speak with Coach Adam about when an evaluation makes sense.
Getting started
- Be honest about your experience: Tell us what you have trained and what competition goal you are working toward.
- Book the evaluation with clear expectations: The evaluation stays bookable. Experienced prospects may be invited into the class. Newer athletes may be routed into eligible jiu jitsu or kickboxing fundamentals without participating in Fight Prep that day.
- Make the actions match the goal: Bring the required gear, show up prepared, train consistently, take coaching, and contribute to the team. Continued placement is earned over time.
Fight Prep questions
Can I book Fight Prep?
Yes. The Fight Prep calendar is open for evaluation bookings. It is intended for experienced and competitive martial artists, but a newer aspirant may still book after understanding that Coach Adam may route them into jiu jitsu or kickboxing fundamentals instead of allowing Fight Prep participation that day. Booking guarantees the evaluation, not live participation or continued Fight Track placement.
Is Fight Prep a free trial?
No. Fight Prep has no direct free trial and is not a drop in class. Eligible jiu jitsu and kickboxing programs have their own trial path. A Fight Prep booking is an evaluation, and Coach Adam decides whether the person participates in Fight Prep or begins with fundamentals.
Do I need a fight booked?
No. A booked fight is not required for an evaluation. Booking a bout on your own also does not make it a GLBJJ represented fight. Speak with Coach Adam before committing to any bout you expect GLBJJ to represent, coach, corner, or support.
What does Coach Adam evaluate?
Preparation, consistency, coachability, fundamentals, commitment to yourself and the team, conduct, and how you contribute to the room. Wanting to compete matters, and your training habits have to match that goal.
Can GLBJJ remove someone from the Fight Track?
Yes. Placement remains under ongoing coach review. GLBJJ may pause or end participation when the required preparation, consistency, coachability, commitment, conduct, or team standard is not maintained.
What does Fight Prep cover?
The striking is kickboxing based, with substantial Muay Thai and selected American karate elements. The grappling uses high percentage technique with a wrestling heavy emphasis on getting on top, staying on top, and controlling the exchange.
Do you offer boxing classes?
No. GLBJJ does not have a standalone boxing program. Boxing skills appear inside the broader kickboxing and Fight Prep curriculum.
